What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is the treatment by psychological means of problems of an emotional nature – both intra-psiquic and relational- which basically affect behavior, adaptation to ones sorroundings, interpersonal relationships, health and physical or psychological wellbeing, etc.
The objective of psychotherapy is psychological development and strengthening. It’s a process which is focused, among other things, in helping each individual:
- to achieve a greater understanding of oneself and his/her environment
- achieve positive changes in the different areas of his/her life
- overcome challenges and resolve problems
- learning how to live in harmony with others and manage emotions such as sadness, rage and fear.

The objective of psychotherapy is not only to remove or modify troubling symptoms which cause suffering or distress, but also to enhance the knowledge of oneself and a higher development of your own resources and potentialities. We will aid you in finding those resources within yourself and put them to work by means of your mind´s capacities.
How can individual therapy help me?
A – It can help you to increase your level of consciousness. Helping you to see with greater clarity: what you really feel, what you think, what you want and don’t want, what is actually worrying you, where do you wish to go, etc. Sometimes, the person that needs therapy, has only a vague idea of what is happening to him/her. Our first task is therefore to outline with greater detail exactly what is happening to him.
B – It can help you change beliefs and limiting thoughts: towards yourself (self concept, beliefs about what I am and am able or not to do, etc.) and towards the rest of the world (how you see others and the world in general) which obstaculise you from achieving your objectives and/or cause disturbing symptoms. We will analyze how you have built your reality and will help you to undo that part which keeps you from growing emotionally.
C – Improve your social abilities: so as to be better able to communicate with others (to ask for what you need, to express your feelings) and in this way be able to enrich yourself more from the emotional nourishment which your family and friends offer you.
D – It can help you create “corrective emotional experiences” which help you to re-elaborate and assimilate, in more favorable circumstances, emotional situations which you were unable to manage in the past and/or which help you modify the way you perceive reality. These situations may have turned into unresolved losses which we will help you process and resolve in an adequate way.
E – It can help you in taking certain actions which will take you to the achievement of your objectives. Decision taking is a very powerful tool for the empowerment of the person, so we can accompany you in an empathetic and wise way towards the most adequate decision for your emotional and relational hea
